Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached West Bengal after Bihar on Friday, where he inaugurated three new routes of Kolkata Metro. PM Modi flagged off the 13.61 km long new metro network and also took a ride in the metro.

These include the service from Jessore Road to Noapara-Jai Hind Airport, Sealdah to Esplanade, and Beleghata to Hemant Mukhopadhyay. The special thing is that now for the first time direct access of metro has become possible to Kolkata Airport. PM Modi himself also traveled by metro from Jessore Road station to Jai Hind Airport.

Reduce Traffic Burden

On this occasion, the Prime Minister was accompanied by West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose, BJP State President Samik Bhattacharya and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar. According to officials, the new metro routes will reduce the traffic burden on Kolkata's roads and benefit millions of people who travel daily.

PM Interacted With Students

The Prime Minister also interacted with students and construction workers involved in the metro project during this period. Addressing the public meeting, he said, I have once again got the opportunity to participate in the development of West Bengal. I congratulate all the citizens for the improvement in the transport system in Kolkata.”

PM Modi said that cities like Kolkata are the identity of our past and they also have a big role in building the future. He said that today when India is moving towards becoming the third largest economy in the world, cities like Kolkata and Dumdum are making an important contribution to it.

PM Modi Attacked Trinamool Congress

Apart from this, before his visit to West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a scathing attack on the state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress (TMC). He said that the anger against TMC is constantly increasing among the people of the state, people are looking towards BJP with hope. The PM wrote on the social media platform on Thursday, 'I am looking forward to coming among BJP workers in Kolkata. With each passing day, public anger against TMC is increasing. West Bengal is looking towards BJP with hope due to our development agenda.'
