New Delhi: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has given a big statement after receiving notices from the Election Commission on 11 August 2025. He said that he is being asked to give an affidavit on the data that the Election Commission is giving him, while that data is not his own. Rahul Gandhi says that the Election Commission should put this data publicly on its website so that people can know the truth. He alleges that all this is being done only to divert attention from the real issues.
He also said that this problem is not limited to Bengaluru only, but voter data has been tampered with and forged in many constituencies of the country. This is a very worrying situation for democracy.
Rahul Gandhi said that 300 MPs in Parliament wanted to go to the Election Commission just to give a memorandum, but they were stopped. He alleged that the government and the Election Commission are afraid because if so many MPs together bring out the truth, their lies will be exposed.
He also said that this fight is no longer just a political fight, but it has become a fight to save the Constitution of India, democracy, and the concept of "one citizen, one vote." Rahul Gandhi claimed that there have been incidents of "multiple men, multiple votes" in Karnataka, and the same thing has been seen in other states as well.
He expressed gratitude for the support of the INDIA alliance of opposition parties in this entire movement. He said that all fellow MPs have stood shoulder to shoulder and strengthened the fight to protect this democracy. He also reiterated on social media that this fight is now a fight to save the voting rights of all Indians.
Karnataka Minister KN Rajanna Resigns after voter list controversy
Karnataka's politics witnessed a major political upheaval on Monday when state Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna resigned from his post. He took this step when he made allegations of irregularities in the voter list during the tenure of the Congress government from a public platform. After this controversial statement, he submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Rajanna, who was considered close to the Chief Minister, had been vocal on the issue of irregularities in the voter list for some time. He questioned why the Congress party remained silent when there was manipulation in the voter list. The party considered it as indiscipline and decided to remove him from the cabinet.
In this case, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar rejected Rajanna's allegations and said that all these allegations are baseless and an attempt by the opposition to tarnish the party's image. Rajanna told the media that "these irregularities happened in front of our eyes, and we should be ashamed that we could not stop it."
