Lucknow: The movement of all vehicles was completely stopped from 6 am on Saturday for the repair of Yamuna bridge on Kanpur-Sagar highway in Hamirpur. Repair work is done on Saturday and Sunday, under which the administration had already issued a notice that only pedestrians will be allowed to enter the bridge on these two days. But the way human sensibilities were ignored under the guise of this arrangement, it shamed humanity.

According to the information received from the Dynamite News correspondent, a painful scene came to light on Saturday morning when a hearse coming from Kanpur was stopped near the Yamuna bridge. The vehicle had the body of the son's mother which was being taken for the last rites. But the security personnel deployed on the bridge did not allow the vehicle to go ahead. The relatives repeatedly requested and pleaded, but there was no hearing.

Administration's Negligence

The helpless son had to cross the bridge on foot carrying his mother's body on a stretcher. During this, the driver of the hearse and other people helped him. While crossing the bridge of about one kilometer long, the body had to be put down several times because the son's hands were trembling due to heat, stress and emotional pain. Whoever saw this scene, his eyes became moist and he was seen cursing the system.

Reaction Of Local People

The local people reacted sharply to the incident. They said that if the administration had made any alternate route or exception arrangement, then perhaps this shameful scene would not have been seen. A hearse, which comes in the emergency category, should not have been stopped. This is not only insensitivity, but also a violation of human rights.

Question Mark On Administration

Although the administration had made it clear that only pedestrian movement would be allowed on the bridge during the repair work, but the absence of any special provision for such emergency situations shows serious negligence. This incident not only raises questions on the system of administration, but also demands a human approach to deal with such cases in future.

The public and social organizations have demanded the administration to investigate this incident and take action against the culprits. Also, the demand for making clear guidelines and exception policy to prevent such incidents from happening in the future has intensified.
