Weather Update: Cold to intensify in Delhi and UP as temperatures dip; Punjab and Haryana also see a rise in chill

New Delhi: Delhi witnessed another drop in temperature on Tuesday. Cold winds sweeping in from the north have led to the dip, which is expected to continue for the next two to three days. On Tuesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 25.1°C, 1.6 degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 9°C, 2.3 degrees below normal. This is the second time since November 16 that the minimum temperature has touched 9°C; earlier, on November 17, it had dropped to 8.7°C.

A further drop in temperature is likely over the next two to three days, with the minimum hovering between 9–11°C and the maximum between 23–25°C. From November 29, temperatures are expected to rise, with maximum temperatures ranging between 25–27°C and minimum temperatures between 9–11°C.

Faridkot remains coldest for the second day

In Punjab, Faridkot continued to be the coldest place for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, recording a minimum temperature of 4°C, compared to 4.4°C on Monday. In Haryana, Hisar was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 6.3°C. According to data from the Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, Punjab’s Bathinda recorded 5.6°C, Gurdaspur 7°C, Amritsar 7.8°C, Ludhiana 7.4°C, and Ferozepur 6.7°C. In Haryana, Sirsa registered 7.8°C, Gurugram 9.8°C, and Karnal 8°C. In the shared capital of both states, Chandigarh, the minimum temperature stood at 7.9°C.

Freezing conditions in the Valley

In Srinagar, the temperature dipped to -3.1°C on Monday, Tuesday night. The previous night, the minimum temperature was -3.2°C. In south Kashmir, Shopian remained the coldest place in the Valley with a minimum of -5.4°C. At Pahalgam, the base camp for the Amarnath Yatra, the minimum temperature was recorded at -4.4°C.
