Ambedkar Konaseema: Panic gripped Ambedkar Konaseema district in Andhra Pradesh on Monday after a suspected gas leak from an operational ONGC oil well created fear among residents. Reports indicate that gas spread like a thick mist into nearby homes, prompting emergency evacuations to prevent any untoward incidents. Villagers described the scene as alarming, with fear and uncertainty spreading quickly across the area.
Preliminary information suggests the incident occurred when production at the well suddenly stopped and workover rig operations were in progress. During this process, a large volume of gas combined with crude oil reportedly gushed out with force, moving rapidly towards nearby homes. The sudden surge caused a fire scare, heightening concerns among local residents.
Upon being alerted by local villagers, ONGC officials quickly coordinated with police and revenue authorities. Rajole Circle Inspector Naresh Kumar took charge of the situation on the ground, supervising security and ensuring safety arrangements were in place. Preliminary reports suggest no casualties or injuries have been reported so far, though officials continue to monitor the area.
