Mumbai: The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be held in Mumbai on September 28 this year. In this meeting, elections will be held for many important posts including the President of the Board, IPL President. The post of BCCI President is currently vacant, as former Indian cricketer Roger Binny resigned earlier this month. Meanwhile, the six-year term of Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Arun Dhumal is also coming to an end, and he will likely go into mandatory cooling period.

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia's Tenure Likely To Continue

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has served in the board for almost three years so far. He has been Joint Secretary for two years and three months and then Secretary for nine months. For this reason, his continuation in the post is almost certain. Saikia was unanimously elected BCCI Secretary after Jay Shah became ICC President in January. Apart from this, other key officials of the board, Rohan Gauns Desai and Prabhtej Bhatia are also likely to continue their tenure. Roger Binny's BCCI President Tenure

Roger Binny was made BCCI President in October 2022. He replaced former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who completed his three-year term. Binny was the only candidate for the post at that time. Although it was earlier revealed that Binny would remain in office till the AGM of September 2024, his term ended due to turning 70 in July.

BCCI's Achievements Under Binny's Leadership

Indian cricket has achieved many significant achievements under Roger Binny's presidency. India won two major ICC limited overs tournaments during this period - ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Apart from this, the Women's Premier League (WPL) was started during Binny's tenure, which was considered a historic step for domestic women's cricket. Binny gave better support to domestic cricket and increased the salaries of the players. Also, strict rules were made to encourage senior players of Team India to play in domestic tournaments.
