Nissan Tekton Launched in India (Nissan)
New Delhi: Nissan has launched the all-new Tekton mid-size SUV in India at an introductory price of ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it directly against the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta in the hotly contested segment.
It shares its platform with the new Renault Duster but gets its own styling, features and tuning to serve as Nissan’s new flagship SUV for the Indian market.
Nissan Tekton has been introduced as a Creta-rivalling mid-size SUV with a starting price of ₹10.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant, going up to around ₹18.5–18.6 lakh for the top-spec trim. Bookings are open at dealerships and online, with a token amount of about ₹21,000 and deliveries slated to begin later in July.
The Tekton is based on the same CMF-B platform as the latest Renault Duster, but Nissan has given it its own front-end design, grille, lighting signatures and cabin detailing to create a distinct identity. It sits in the mid-size SUV space competing with the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara/Victoris and VW Taigun, among others.

Engine and gearbox options
Nissan is offering the Tekton with two turbo-petrol engine options in India. 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol
Power: about 100 hp.
Torque: 166 Nm.
Gearbox: 6‑speed manual only. 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol
Power: around 156–163 hp depending on tune reported.
Torque: up to 250–280 Nm.
Gearboxes: 6‑speed manual and 6‑speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT).
Diesel is not on offer at launch, which aligns the Tekton more with the current-gen Creta’s petrol-heavy strategy rather than the earlier diesel-focused Duster era.
All Tekton variants and price range
There is some variation across reports, but the Tekton line-up in India broadly covers entry, mid and top trims with multiple powertrain combinations.
Visia – Base variant with essential features and the lowest price.
Visia Plus – Base trim with a few added comfort and convenience features.
Acenta – Mid-level variant offering a better balance of comfort, technology, and value.
N-Connecta – Well-equipped trim with enhanced infotainment, connectivity, and safety features.
Tekna – Premium variant featuring advanced technology, comfort, and driver-assistance features.
Tekna Plus – Top-end trim with luxury finishes, the latest technology, and the most comprehensive feature set.
These six trims are mentioned as the main variant ladder, with prices from ₹10.49 lakh to ₹18.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
Some outlets also describe up to 12 total combinations once you factor in both engines and gearboxes (manual and DCT) across these trims.

The Tekton has been positioned as a feature-rich SUV with emphasis on safety and connected tech.
5‑star Bharat NCAP crash test rating has been highlighted in launch reports.
Multiple airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, TPMS and active safety tech on higher trims.
Large touchscreen infotainment with connected car features, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay on upper variants.
Automatic climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry and push-button start depending on trim.
Patrol-inspired upright SUV stance with a bold grille and chunky wheel arches.
Dual-tone alloy wheels, LED headlamps/DRLs and prominent Nissan badging on higher variants.
Nissan is also offering over 50 customisation options, including cosmetic packs and accessories, to help buyers personalise their Tekton.
The Tekton goes up against the new-gen Renault Duster it is based on, as well as the segment benchmark Hyundai Creta.

Design and identity: While sharing bones with the Duster, Tekton’s Patrol-inspired styling gives it a more premium and aggressive look, helping it stand apart from its Renault cousin and the softer-looking Creta.
Turbo-petrol focus: With two turbo-petrol engines and DCT, the Tekton is aimed at buyers prioritising performance and refinement over diesel efficiency, directly targeting Creta 1.5 turbo buyers.
Safety and customisation: A highlighted 5‑star Bharat NCAP rating and extensive factory/accessory packs add appeal for safety-conscious and style-focused buyers.
Hyundai Creta: Offers petrol plus diesel options, a very wide dealer network and more established brand pull in this segment.
Renault Duster: Leverages a strong “tough SUV” reputation and the same basic architecture as Tekton, with some buyers already loyal to the Duster nameplate.
If you want, I can next draft this as a 350–400 word newspaper-style story in pure reporter tone, ready to publish, including a clear variant–engine–gearbox breakout based on the launch structure.
