More than 40 people are ill in two colonies in Meerut itself. They have been admitted to various hospitals. Where seven children had to be admitted to the ICU due to critical condition.
It was told that Ghevar was bought from Hapur and taken to Meerut to visit relatives. There it was distributed among the nearby families. After which the condition of the people started deteriorating.
On receiving the information, the team of the Food Safety Department reached the Ghevar shop. Four samples were taken from there and sent for testing. The condition of the sick is still stable.
According to the Chief Food Safety Officer, Haji Idrish has a sweet shop named Hapur Sweets in the old market of the city. On the evening of 13th July, Haji Naeem, a resident of Dasna in Ghaziabad district, bought 35 kg of Ghevar from here. Out of this, 31 kg of Ghevar was sent to his relatives in Meerut, Haji Naeem and Haji Naseem Sanota, who live on 40 Foota Road in Shalimar.
These people fell ill after eating Ghevar
This Ghevar was also sent to Hafiz Hanif's house in Harinagar, where many people fell ill. Those who fell ill in Haji Naeem's family include Usman, Hasnain, Taimur, Mullaji Naseem's sons Abuzar, Hamza and granddaughter Mahir. All of them fell victim to vomiting and diarrhea. Apart from this, the health of Haji Naeem's younger brother Zikriya's wife Shamim and son Suhail has also deteriorated. They have been admitted to the hospital.
Symptoms of food poisoning
After eating Ghevar, two children of his neighbor Muqeem are also said to be ill. After getting the information, the health department team reached the spot and took samples of Ghevar. In this case, the doctor said that there are symptoms of food poisoning in the sweet. Many patients have been discharged after their condition stabilized, while some are still undergoing treatment. Due to this incident, there is an atmosphere of fear in Meerut's Lisadi Gate, Shalimar Garden, Ittefaqnagar and Harinagar of Brahmapuri police station area.
Doctors have advised people to be cautious about sweets and food items brought from outside. At present, the health department is investigating this matter and has indicated strict action against sweet sellers.
