Lucknow: A man allegedly stabbed his eight-month-pregnant wife to death after a quarrel over Rs 100, police said the case has left the local community shaken. As per the police reports, the accused identified as Ankur, later confessed to the crime and has been taken into custody.
Police said the argument erupted when the woman refused to give Ankur Rs 100- reportedly demanded for alcohol. This made the accused extremely angry and he attacked his pregnant wife 7 times inside the couple’s rented home in Dasouli village under Gudamba police station limits.

When the mother of the accused came to rescue the women, she was also hit by the accused and now is in the ICU. Neighbours rushed his wife to a hospital, but she was declared dead; the unborn child also could not be saved, officials added.
Neighbours and relatives told investigators that quarrels were frequent in the household and that there had been tensions in the marriage for some time. Several residents described the accused as prone to violent outbursts, and said family members had intervened during earlier fights.
He had been staying in a rented house for two months along with his mother and sister owned by Ram Singh. "A Vishwakarma Pooja feast was underway at 5PM when he abrutly started attacking his wife and mother,'' said the owner.
As per the locals Ankur’s sister, Chandni ran outside screaming. Hearing the commotion, a crowd gathered. Upon learning of the incident, those present immediately apprehended the accused. They snatched the sickle from his hand and tied him to a pole to restrain him.
He was then handed over to the police. The forensic team collected evidence from the scene. The Gudamba police have registered a case and recovered the weapon used in the attack. Station authorities said Ankur confessed during interrogation and has been sent to judicial custody as investigations continue.
