Kabul: Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan now appear to be escalating into open military clashes. The armies of both countries have been engaged in a standoff for the past four days. The Afghan Defense Ministry claimed that its Air Force carried out precision airstrikes on several key Pakistani military installations. These attacks have further escalated the situation, creating a war-like situation in the region.

Nur Khan Airbase Becomes Key Target

According to the Afghan Defense Ministry, a major airstrike was carried out on Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi. This airbase is considered strategically important for the Pakistan Air Force. The 12th Division Headquarters in Quetta, Balochistan, and the Khwazai Camp in the Mohmand Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also bombed. The Taliban claims that several military command centers suffered heavy damage in these attacks.

'Revenge for Infiltration'

The Afghan Defense Ministry stated that this action was a response to recent infiltrations and airstrikes by Pakistan. Pakistan had targeted Kabul and Bagram airbases. The ministry warned that if Pakistan violates Afghan airspace again, it will face a harsh and decisive response.

Tensions escalated further when Pakistan declared open war against Afghanistan. On Friday, Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Kabul and Kandahar, prompting the Afghan army to launch a counter-offensive just hours later.

Claims of Military Casualties

According to local media, the Taliban claimed that 32 to 35 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the overnight attacks. According to the Ministry of Defense, the 203 Mansoori, 201 Silab, and 205 Al-Badr Corps carried out these operations. The ministry also said that 10 soldiers were injured and four military posts were completely destroyed. It also claimed that two Pakistani military drones were shot down.

Use of Modern Weapons

According to Deputy Spokesperson Sediqullah Nasrat, the Afghan army used laser weapons and modern military equipment in Nangarhar, Paktia, Khost, and Kandahar provinces. Currently, high tensions remain across the region, and the international community is closely monitoring this escalating conflict. Whether the situation will return to normal depends on the next strategic moves by both countries.
