Mumbai: Massive rains have lashed several parts of the city on Sunday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued Yellow alert for today, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
At the same time the IMD has forecast cloudy sky in the city with scattered heavy rains.
The Yellow alert also includes Thane and Palghar. At the same time an Orange alert has been issued for Raigad.
Continuous rainfall has left several parts of Mumbai waterlogged, severely affecting daily life. Roads are submerged, leading to traffic jams across multiple areas. The local train network, the city's lifeline has also slowed down due to the waterlogging.
July 27: Overcast skies with a heavy rain warning in place; temperature around 30°C.
July 28: Moderate rain expected to continue, though no warning has been issued.
July 29–31: Cloudy weather with intermittent rain; temperatures ranging between 31–32°C.
August 1: Similar conditions persist, but the weather alert has been lifted.
Mumbai Police took to social media to acknowledge the relentless efforts of their personnel during the crisis said, "Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear khaki. On 26th July 2005, relentless rains brought Mumbai to a halt but its courage stood tall in khaki.The ones on the frontlines that day recall what it meant to show up for duty, for people, for Mumbai. Despite the rain, crowds of people were seen at places like Marine Drive and Gateway of India. People are enjoying the weather amidst strong winds and drizzle. But the administration has warned to keep distance from risky areas.
