Over 3.5 lakh voters ‘Unmapped’ in Noida–Ghaziabad
Noida: The voter list revision process under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Noida and Ghaziabad districts of the NCR concluded on Friday. During this process, approximately 3.5 lakh voters were marked as 'unmapped', which is about 8% of the total voters. Officials said that preparations are underway to issue notices to these voters and collect their documents for further processing.
In Noida, out of a total of 18.7 lakh voters, 1.8 lakh (9.8%) have been placed in the unmapped category. Noida's Additional District Election Officer, Atul Kumar, said, "These are individuals whose details or those of their family members could not be linked to the 2003 voter list."
Similarly, in Ghaziabad, 1.6 lakh (5.6%) out of 28.4 lakh voters are unmapped. The district's election officer, Saurabh Bhatt, cited the same reason.
Under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, the verification of the voter list in the district has been completed. 28,37,991 voters were verified in the five assembly constituencies of the district. Of these, 8,18,362 voters were recorded as shifted, absent, deceased, or duplicates. According to the report released by the District Election Office, 71.17 percent of the digitization work was completed by December 27. The highest number of names were removed in Sahibabad and the lowest in Modinagar.
51,781 Voter Names Removed After SIR Survey
The SIR work in the district has been completed. According to the report released by the District Election Office on Saturday, 8,18,362 voter names have been removed. Sahibabad assembly constituency recorded the highest number of names removed. Here, out of more than 10 lakh voters, about four lakh, or 38.32 percent, of the voters' names were removed. Meanwhile, Modinagar assembly constituency recorded the fewest deletions, with 51,781 names removed from a total of 334,765 voters after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) survey.
In Gautam Buddh Nagar's three assembly constituencies, after the SIR process involving 18.65 lakh voters, the names of 4.48 lakh voters will be removed from the list. These voters could not be accounted for during the process. The administration has categorized them as absent, shifted, deceased, or duplicates.
The locking of the SIR data at midnight on Friday has increased the concerns of administrative officials. The draft list will be prepared on December 31. The administration has not yet received forms from 1.84 lakh voters. To locate them, the administration will set up camps at designated locations from January 1 to receive objections from the public.
The administration started the Special Intensive Revision process on November 4. So far, only 14,17,669 voters have been accounted for, while 1,84,353 voters could not be traced due to a lack of permanent address or identification. This means that 9.8 percent of the total 18.65 lakh voters could not be accounted for during the SIR process.
It is noteworthy that "unmapped" refers to those whose presence was recorded but could not be linked to old records, while ASD (Absent, Shifted, Deceased) refers to those who were not found at their addresses, have moved, are deceased, or are duplicates. ASD names will be removed, but this can be challenged using Form 6 or 7.
Claims and objections can be filed from December 31 to January 30. Voters can contact their BLO (Booth Level Officer) or use the voters.eci.gov.in portal. The final list will be published on February 28, 2026. The Election Officer appealed, "All voters should check their status and keep the necessary documents ready." This process is aimed at ensuring a clean and accurate voter list for fair elections.
