India To Launch National Deep Water Exploration Mission: PM Modi
New Delhi: On August 15, 2025, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several important announcements regarding the energy security and self-reliance of the country. Announcing the launch of the 'National Deep Water Exploration Mission,' he said that India will now exploit the oil, gas, and other resources hidden in the deep sea. This will help the country reduce its dependence on foreign countries in terms of energy.
PM Modi said that if India becomes self-reliant in terms of energy, then thousands of crores of rupees spent on buying petrol, diesel, and gas can be invested in poverty alleviation, welfare of farmers, and development of villages. He said, "Right now this money goes to foreign countries, but now we are moving towards becoming self-reliant."
Mission on Critical Minerals: Important for Defense and Technology
The Prime Minister also mentioned the 'National Critical Mineral Mission' and said that the world is now understanding the importance of these minerals. India will have to become self-reliant in these minerals for its defense, energy, and technology needs. Under this mission, work is going on at more than 1200 mining sites.
India's achievements in green energy
Solar energy production has increased 30 times in the last 11 years. New dams are being built to expand hydropower. Thousands of crores of rupees are being invested in the Green Hydrogen Mission. 10 new reactors are being built rapidly to increase nuclear energy capacity. The target is to increase nuclear power capacity 10 times by 2047.
India is a leader in environmental protection
PM Modi said that when the whole world was worried about global warming, India had set a target of 50% clean energy by 2030 but achieved it in 2025 itself. This shows the resolve of the country and the strength of the people. He said that India is as sensitive towards nature as it is towards the world.
"Self-reliant energy, prosperous India"
It is clear from these announcements of Prime Minister Modi that India is now on the path of becoming completely self-reliant in the field of energy, minerals, and environment. This will not only strengthen the country's economy but will also help in poverty eradication and the welfare of farmers. This resolution of "clean energy, secure future" is a big step towards making India a global leader.
