Weather Update: Rain brings both relief and trouble in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: While the torrential rain in Delhi-NCR late on Monday night gave relief to the people from the scorching heat, on the other hand, heavy waterlogging and traffic jams were seen in many areas. This was the second time after last Saturday that heavy rainfall was recorded in the capital and its surrounding areas.

Drop in temperature

The temperature dropped due to rain, but waterlogging and vehicles stuck on the road were seen affecting normal life. The Meteorological Department (IMD) had already issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR, in which light to moderate rain was expected on Monday as well.

People in Noida troubled by humidity

After the rain on Rakshabandhan, there was a possibility of rain again in Noida on Monday, but the weather remained clear throughout the day and it did not rain. Due to this, the wind speed was also low, due to which the humidity troubled the people a lot. According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Noida on Monday was recorded at 31.8 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at 28.1 degrees Celsius, while the humidity level reached 100 percent which is much higher than normal.

Forecast for the coming days

According to the meteorologist, light rain will continue in Delhi-NCR till August 13. After this, the monsoon will be active again between August 14 and 17 and moderate rain is expected. This change in the weather will be seen due to the changing wind pattern, due to which the maximum temperature can go down to 31-32 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rain across the country

According to the Meteorological Department, good rain was recorded in many parts of the country in the last 24 hours till 8:30 am on Sunday. Rainfall ranging from 7 to 20 cm was recorded in West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Karnataka. Apart from this, heavy rains also occurred in many places in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, West Bengal, Sikkim, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Monsoon will be active again in North India

The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy rains in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for the next seven days. On August 13, some places in Uttarakhand may receive up to 21 cm of rainfall. Apart from this, a new round of heavy rains is likely to start in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and coastal Andhra Pradesh between August 13 and 16.
