Guntur: A tragic incident from the Tadepalli area of Andhra Pradesh has sent shockwaves across the state. Madhuri Sahithibai, the 25-year-old daughter of senior IAS officer Chinna Ramudu, was found hanging in the bathroom of her parental home.

The horrifying sight came to light when family members broke open the door after repeated knocks went unanswered. While the police have initially classified the incident as suicide, the emotional layers behind it point toward deep-rooted marital strain and alleged dowry harassment.

A Love Marriage That Shattered Too Soon

Madhuri and Rajesh Naidu entered into a love marriage on 5 March 2025. The couple informed their families two days later, on 7 March, and subsequently registered their marriage.

According to reports, Madhuri had even discontinued her B.Tech course due to the relationship. Although the early phase of the marriage appeared stable, cracks began to emerge within months, indicating rising tension between the two.

Allegations of Harassment

A few months ago, Madhuri had called her family in distress, claiming that her husband was harassing her over dowry. She reportedly expressed intense fear, anxiety, and helplessness, pleading with her parents for relief from the situation.

Responding to her emotional breakdown, the family brought her back to Tadepalli in the first week of September. But even after returning home, Madhuri remained deeply disturbed. According to her family, she refused to return to her husband’s house and appeared visibly troubled in the weeks leading up to her death.

Permission Even to Make a Phone Call

IAS officer Chinna Ramudu, Madhuri’s father, made serious allegations against his son-in-law. He claimed that Rajesh frequently intimidated Madhuri, telling her that she had no support and threatening her with dire consequences.

“My daughter needed his permission even to make a phone call,” he said. “He scared her, saying he would kill her. She felt completely unwanted in her own home.” Fighting back tears, Ramudu said he never imagined the situation would escalate to the point where his daughter would take her own life.

Case Registered Under Dowry Death Provisions

According to Mangalagiri DSP Murali Krishna, a case has been registered under Section 80 relating to dowry death. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and the police are probing all angles, including the allegations of harassment and the circumstances leading to the young woman’s tragic end.
