New Delhi: Mohammad Nizamuddin, 29, a resident of Telangana's Mahbubnagar district, died in police firing in California, USA. The incident occurred on the morning of September 3 in Santa Clara. Nizamuddin was a software engineer and was living and working in the US.
The family says that Nizamuddin had a quarrel with his roommate over a minor issue, which led to this tragic incident.

Nizamuddin's father, Mohammad Hasnuddin, learned of the incident through a friend. He said he could not understand why the police took such harsh action. He has written to India's External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, requesting help in bringing his son's body back to Mahbubnagar. He wrote: "I don't know why the police shot him. Please help immediately."
Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan has also made the matter public and demanded intervention from the Indian government.
According to Santa Clara police, they received an emergency call at 6:18 a.m. on September 3rd. According to the report Nizamuddin had attacked his roommate with a knife. When police arrived at the scene, they saw him attempting to attack again with the knife.
Police forcibly entered the house and tried to stop him, during which shots were fired. The injured Nizamuddin was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Police claim that their actions "saved at least one life," and two knives were recovered from the scene.
Mohammad Nizamuddin completed his MS (Master of Science) in the United States. He subsequently worked as an engineer at a software company in California.
This incident serves as a warning to young Indians working abroad. It is an example of how a minor domestic dispute can escalate into a deadly situation. The family is now awaiting government assistance in bringing their son's body back to India.
