An emergency was declared at Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar's largest government hospital. According to a hospital spokesperson, six injured patients were brought in, whose condition was stated to be stable. The injured soldiers are undergoing treatment, and security forces are deployed with full vigilance.
The police force attacked is a civilian paramilitary force, formerly known as the Frontier Constabulary. It was renamed the Federal Constabulary in July this year. The headquarters is located in a crowded area and a military cantonment is nearby, making it a sensitive location from a security perspective.
In the past few years, terrorist attacks have increased in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. The main reasons are said to be the breakdown of the government's peace agreement with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the increased activity of terrorists. Security agencies are constantly vigilant, but such attacks pose a threat to both civilians and security forces.
