New Delhi: Pritam Singh Lodhi, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Pichhore in Madhya Pradesh, has been issued a show-cause notice by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He stands accused of making derogatory and threatening statements against a police officer. The party has demanded a response from him within three days, warning that failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.

What did the Party say?

State BJP President Hemant Khandelwal explicitly stated that the MLA's conduct is "highly objectionable" and constitutes a violation of party discipline. Consequently, an explanation has been sought from him.

Strong Reaction from the Police Association

The Madhya Pradesh unit of the IPS Association has also reacted strongly to this matter. Condemning the MLA's statements, they have demanded strict action against him.

The controversy escalated further when several videos went viral on social media, in which Lodhi could be seen threatening Ayush Jakhar (SDOP) and using derogatory language against him.

This entire episode is linked to a road accident that occurred on April 16 in the Shivpuri district. It is alleged that a Thar vehicle, driven by the MLA's son, Dinesh Lodhi, struck five people. A dispute subsequently arose regarding the police action taken in the aftermath of the incident.

The MLA's Controversial Statements

In the viral videos, the MLA was seen warning the police officer to "work properly" within 15 days. He went so far as to declare that if this did not happen, he would arrive at the officer's residence accompanied by thousands of people and "fill his house with cow dung."

In another statement, he asserted, "Karera does not belong to your father," and, while defending his son, even issued a challenge to the police force.

In the wake of this entire controversy, the notice issued by the BJP is being viewed as a measure for damage control. It now remains to be seen what response the MLA provides and what further action the party decides to take.
