Karnataka Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna resigned after alleging voter list irregularities during Congress rule, sparking political turmoil. Considered close to CM Siddaramaiah, his remarks exposed party rifts. Deputy CM Shivakumar dismissed claims as “baseless,” while Rajanna insisted, “We failed to stop manipulation.” His earlier calls for more DyCM posts and Dalit leadership had already strained relations. Bengalur: Karnataka's politics witnessed a major political upheaval on Monday when state Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna resigned from his post. He took this step when he made allegations of irregularities in the voter list during the tenure of the Congress government from a public platform. After this controversial statement, he submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Rajanna, who was considered close to the Chief Minister, had been vocal on the issue of irregularities in the voter list for some time. He questioned why the Congress party remained silent when there was manipulation in the voter list. The party considered it as indiscipline and decided to remove him from the cabinet.

In this case, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar rejected Rajanna's allegations and said that all these allegations are baseless and an attempt by the opposition to tarnish the party's image. Rajanna told the media that "these irregularities happened in front of our eyes, and we should be ashamed that we could not stop it."

This was not the first time that Rajanna has made controversial statements. Earlier, he had suggested the creation of an additional deputy chief minister's post in the state, which could weaken the position of the current deputy CM Shivakumar. He had also said that if Siddaramaiah is removed in the future, a leader from the Dalit community should be made the Chief Minister.

All these developments have created a deep crisis in the Karnataka Congress and have given rise to fears of factionalism within the party. Rajanna's resignation is indicating new equations in Karnataka politics.
