Lucknow: Samajwadi Party Supremo and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging huge irregularities in the Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and calling it a “well-planned conspiracy”.

Addressing a press conference at the SP office in Lucknow, the Akhilesh Yadav said the manner in which the voter list is being prepared has raised serious questions about the fairness and transparency of the entire exercise.

‘CM Had Already Fixed the Number of Votes to Be Removed’

Akhilesh Yadav claimed that even before the draft voter list was released, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had publicly stated that around four crore votes would be removed.

“The UP Chief Minister himself said that four crore votes will be cut, and that these votes belong to the BJP,” Akhilesh alleged, adding that the statement is on record and widely available.

He questioned how such a figure could be announced in advance when the revision process was still underway.

Draft Voter List Confirms Apprehensions: Akhilesh

The SP chief said that once the draft voter list was published, his party’s fears began to come true. He recalled that earlier he had apprehended that nearly three crore votes might be removed.

Without naming the Chief Minister directly, Akhilesh said that during the revision process itself, a senior constitutional functionary had publicly declared the number of deletions.

“When numbers are decided beforehand, how can this process be considered fair?” he asked.

‘Conspiracy to Remove Some Votes, Add Others’

Akhilesh Yadav alleged discrepancies between data held by the State Election Commission and figures available with the Government of India, including excise-related data.

He said these inconsistencies point towards a deliberate attempt to remove votes of certain sections and communities while adding others.

The SP leader further claimed that reports in reputed newspapers suggesting government interference have deepened suspicion about the process.

EC Under Question, Officers Deployed Without Transparency

Questioning the Election Commission’s role, Akhilesh said it has become unclear whose instructions are being followed in preparing the voter list.

He alleged that officers are being sent to districts without transparency.

“If officers are being deployed, where is their list? In districts like Meerut and Lucknow, lakhs of votes have been removed. Entire assembly constituencies have seen massive deletions,” he said.

‘BJP Gets a Free Pass from Agencies’

The SP chief alleged selective action by central agencies, claiming that leaders associated with the BJP enjoy immunity.

“If you are from the BJP, everything is forgiven. There is no ED, no CBI, no CID for you,” he said.

He added that once the Samajwadi Party comes to power, circle rates will be revised upward to address farmers’ concerns.

Legal Action Planned at District Level

Akhilesh Yadav said the Samajwadi Party will file cases at the district level over discrepancies in the SIR lists.

He announced that a standard format will be issued and that BLOs and representatives of PDA communities (Backward Classes, Dalits, and Minorities) will be encouraged to file complaints.

Financial Aid to Families of Deceased BLOs

During the event, Akhilesh Yadav also announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to the families of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh amid pressure linked to the SIR exercise.
