Raj-Uddhav share stage after two decades; Assert ‘BJP wants to suppress our identity’

Mumbai: Estranged cousins Uddhav Thackeray Raj Thackeray, after about two decades, shared a public stage for the first time to celebrate the Maharashtra Government decision to roll back the three-language formula in primary schools in Maharashtra, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Both the Thackerays jointly hosted a mega victory gathering 'Marathi Unity' today on Saturday at the NSCI Dome in Worli, Mumbai. In the rally declared that rolling back the three-language formula by the state Government is a triumph for the Marathi language and cultural identity.

On this occasion, both gave indications of future politics together. Raj Thackeray said, 'I had said in my interview that Maharashtra is bigger than fights. You can see that we have come together on one platform after 20 years. For us, there is only Maharashtra and Marathi agenda, there is no political agenda.'

Uddhav said that everyone is liking the distance between us which Marathi ended. In my view, our coming together and sharing this platform is much more important than our speech.

Raj Thackeray formed MNS in 2006 after separating from Shiv Sena. Municipal elections are likely to be held in Maharashtra by September this year. In such a situation, there are possibilities of both of them fighting this election together.

Uddhav said that we will have to take an oath that we will always stay together.

Uddhav said that both of us have experienced how we are used and thrown away, today we are both together. Today we have united, but it is their habit to try to create a fight again.

He said, 'If they try to break the Maharashtra in which we live, where we were born, we will not let them do so. Today we should take an oath that we will both stay together. It has started from today.'

Rift Between Raj And Uddhav

Raj Thackeray is active in politics since 1989 In 1989, Raj Thackeray was the president of Shiv Sena's student wing, Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, at the age of 21. Raj was so active that within 6 years from 1989 to 1995, he made countless visits to every corner of Maharashtra. By 1993, he had joined lakhs of youth with him and Shiv Sena. The result was that Shiv Sena had a strong ground network in the entire state.
