Lord Krishna, the epitome of love and compassion, is famous for his ‘leelas’ and his 16108 wives. But eight of them are considered his primary wives, known as the Ashtabharya. Here are names

Rukmini

Considered as the chief queen of Lord Krishna and an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. Rukmini was the daughter of King Bhishmaka of Vidarbha.

Satyabhama

The second most important consort of Krishna. She is believed to be an avatar of Bhumi Devi, the Goddess of Earth. Satyabhama was the daughter of Yadava King Satrajit.

Jambavati

The Third wife of Krishna among his eight principal wives. She is the only daughter of the bear king, Jambavat.

Kalindi

Kalindi is the fourth wife of Lord Krishna. Also known as Yamuna, she is a river goddess. She is the daughter of the Sun god.

Mitravinda

Mitravinda is said to be the representation of love and willpower. It was her determination that allowed her to marry Shri Krishna, against her family’s wishes.

Nagnajiti

Nagnajiti is the fifth wife of Lord Krishna. She is known as Satya and Nappinnai as well. Her reference comes from Vaishnavite texts regarded in the Hindu culture.

Bhadra

She was the daughter of King Dhrishtaketu and Shrutakirti of the Kekeya kingdom. Bhadra is also described as a cousin of Krishna, as her mother was Krishna's paternal aunt.

Lakshmana

Also known as Lakshana. She was the daughter of a king from the Madra kingdom. Lakshmana describes Brihatsena to be a good veena player in a dialogue
